Real-izing The Change You've Always Dreamed of ...

"The greatest achievement was at first and for a time a dream. The oak sleeps in the acorn, the bird waits in the egg, and in the highest vision of the soul a waking angel stirs. Dreams are the seedlings of realities." - James Allen

2 Working Student Positions Open!

Full Time Position - 2 hrs/day,  4 days/ week - 1 lesson
Part Time Position - 2 hrs/day, 2 days/week - 1/2 off lessons

Work Entails (in order of priority):

cleaning stalls
grooming horses
cleaning tack
washing saddle pads
cleaning buckets (feed and water)
sweeping the barn aisle
watering plants around arena and barn
moving jump standards
fixing coffee
straightening out the tack room
cooling out the horses
mowing/weeding/watering
miscellaneous...

This list is the generic 'to do' list for the day.  Each day, you'll get a list of the things that make sense for that day.

You won't be asked to tack the horses for riding, although I may ask you to groom them before or right after they've been ridden.

A typical two hours might consist of cleaning the stalls (about 30 min), grooming the horses (75 min), and then cleaning a bridle(15 min).  Or it might be cleaning the stalls (30 min), grooming the horses (75 min), and sweeping the barn aisle (15min).  Or, if the stalls are mostly clean, it might be 15min cleaning stalls, 75min grooming, 20 min watering, and cooling out horses.

Horse Experience really a must!

Does this sound like something you're interested in?  If so, there are two criteria:
  1. We need to make sure we're a fit.  If you've not had lessons here, let's schedule a first time lesson, for which you'll pay regular price, and make sure we're a fit.  If you've been taking lessons with me, then simply let me know you're interested in trading time and effort.
  2. Doing good work in a timely fashion is a must.  Each work item has a 'reasonable time' associated with it, so that you'll never be asked to do more than will fit in the time you've scheduled; conversely, whatever work you're asked to do, that's the work that needs to get done in trade for the lesson you're working towards.   i.e. the lesson will come after the work.  You can take as long as you want to do the work.  There will be days where I will assign tasks as we go along.  In that case, I expect you to come and ask for more work.
If you want to do this but you haven't got 'horse experience' yet, let's continue with regular lessons so you can develop your abilities until you're ready to put in a full 2 hours without my supervision.

If you're interested - send me a note!
