This is riding, right?
Yes, this is all about riding -- about finding harmony and union with a
horse -- by finding that harmony and union within yourself first!
Horses are wonderful mirrors for us, and will gently give back to us
what we send out into the world.
There are many ways for approaching this. Centered Riding®
uses guided imagery, Tai Chi, and the teachings of Moshe Feldenkrais and
Matthias Alexandar to facilitate
the proper release, balance, and usage of the riders body to effectively
communicate with the horse.
This is particularly effective at getting riders over hurdles in
their riding. Very often, when there is an impasse, it is because
there is a limitation which has not been identified or which has not
been adequately addressed. At the physical level, the Satori Sequnce,
incorporating Centerd Riding® techniques,
provides a framework of
self-correcting process which allow the rider to move to a higher
level of skill.
What kinds of riding are covered? Any kind of
riding benefits from the Centered Riding ®techniques! This is because
it's all about understanding the things that transcend the disciplines -- how
human bodies work, how horse bodies work, how people and horse minds
think, how communication between people and horses takes place. So whatever
your discipline or sport, you can experience better performance and greater
comfort. My background is in dressage, eventing, and stadium jumping so this
is what I know the most about and, from a purely practical standpoint, it's the equipment I have on hand.
Although I do have a western saddle on hand and two of my horses have gone
western, and they neck rein, so we can do some low level western work as
well. For higher level, more specialized western riding, saddle-seat, or side saddle disciplines, you can bring your own horse
and equipment, or learn with mine and transfer it over to yours.
What about the other stuff?
Reiki, and Holographic
Repatterning®, and PSYCH-KTM are some other tools available at Satori Stables
to assist you with your riding. Sometimes what is expressed as a
physical limitation has roots in other areas of your life. With
Reiki, HR, and Psych-KTM these roots can be found and let go.
Is this for me?
What is your immediate reaction? That will tell you a lot.
If you are curious about what this is and willing to 'try anything
once,' then let's schedule a Consultation
lesson. You'll learn first hand what it's all about.
If you're kind of on the fence, here's some things to consider:
- Are you serious about riding well?
- Are you a self-starter or an independent thinker?
- Do you like to figure things out for yourself?
- Are you willing to look at yourself first to alleviate problems?
- Are you willing to run the tortoise race and win?
During lessons you will be given tools and instruction about how
and when to use the tools, and then a chance to learn how to use
them.
Your 'level' of expertise does not matter. Whether you have been
riding for years or have yet to get on a horse, Centered Riding® and the
other other techniques of Reiki, Holographic Repatterning, and PSYCH-K will offer you new insight and ability.
If you are into riding for the sake of the horse and the development
of yourself as a rider, then Satori Stables could be the place for you.
Which one?
If you've not yet attended a clinic with me and are interested
in lessons, then starting with
a Consultation lesson would be the thing to
do. During the initial lesson you'll learn the basic Centered Riding
concepts and we'll discuss where you want to go and how to get you
there.
If you have a specific ability you would like to address, then
a month or two of
weekly lessons might be appropriate, or
you may find that coming back once a month for
consultation lessons would be more
advantageous.
Another option would be to attend
seminars or clinics quarterly.
This is something we can discuss.
If you are looking for intensive, consistent progress, then weekly
or bi-weekly
private lessons
for a period of time will allow you to
progress rather rapidly with your riding skills.
Whatever you're looking to achieve, we can discuss the path
for getting you there.
Whose Horse? There
are three horses assisting with lessons here at Satori Stables. You are
welcome to ride one of them or, if your horse is suitable, you can bring your
horse. Sometimes it's easiest to ride IRS or Blitzen for the initial
lesson and bring your horse for follow on lessons. Riding IRS or Blitzen
can give you a clearer idea of what to expect from the techniques -- which are
about communicating with the horse. If communication is something new
for your horse, he or she may be confused a little at first - 'What, you're
talking to ME?' This goes away fairly quickly! Since you'll
be learning brand new things, though, it might be easier to allow for your
horse's learning curve in a later lesson. IRS's specialty is to
provide a very solid, grounded, safe partnership. She is a Spring
personality. Blitzen and Carlos are very fluid and provide immediate
feedback. |
