IntroductionRead disclaimers before using. Why use this Search EngineThis search engine searches the different on-line bookstores using the bookstores search engine for searches. This not only saves you time but trims off unnecessary images or promotions that you would care to see. The returned results are exactly what you will see as if you have gone to the Bookstore site yourself. The advantage is you get to see and compare the results from different other bookstores. By entering search words in the text input, the program passes the query to the different on-line book stores in the list. It uses the on-line bookstore's search engine to search for a particular book. When the replies come back from the bookstore, the reply is parsed and only the particular entries are "grep'ed" and pasted into the resulting page. The resulting page will contain the Title(s) of the books that the search came back with. Currently the list of On-line Bookstores searched are as follows:
How to use the Search EngineEnter a name of a book or some search words for a book that you want to do a price comparison on. For best results try to limit the search to a particular book. If you do not know the exact title of the book, try to enter as many words in the title that you can remember. If you happen to put in a single search word, chances are the search will return a long list of books from each of the bookstores. It will be a little bit more difficult to do a price comparison if there are more books in the list that you care to see. Remember that the search is done by the search engine of the bookstore. The engine only parse the return. Sometimes there may be more pages returned from the particular bookstore site. In this case, the engine only parses the first page of the returned result. Tips on doing SearchesIf you happen to put in a title that still gives you a long list, try to search for the book you really want within the list and get its ISBN number. Once you have the ISBN number, you may search with the ISBN number. This will most definitely give you the list that you can compare prices with. As an example: If you put in as a search criteria "The Alexander Technique". This looks to be a very unique title search which should yield a short list of books to get price comparisons on. Unfortunately, this one still gives you a long list. The next thing is to go through the list of books and find the right book from any of the bookstores. The goal here is to get the ISBN number for the exact book you want to compare prices on. Sometimes the list will not give you the ISBN number. If this is so click on the link to the book itself. Once you have this repeat the search with ISBN number. Some comments from recent visitors"NIFTY! I had never heard of bookpool, and I would have saved $8 if I'd ordered from them instead of Amazon." "This is very useful. I checked out a book I had bought some time ago and found that I would have saved about $12." "I bought a couple of books thru your site recently and I saved about $15."
