What is Reiki?

The word "Rei-ki" translates from the Japanese as "Universal Energy."  

To me Reiki is the fundamental healing modality, the one that taps into the fabric of the Universe.  It is Reiki to which I turn when I don't know what else to do.  It is the most 'wholistic' of the modalities with which I work and the one which solicits the greatest trust in the process.  It is the gentlest modality and the one most guided by the individual involved.  

Of importance, no energy of mine is transferred to the recipient.  The Reiki is channeled through me.  I'm like the straw.  The Reiki comes through me from "the Cosmos."  You can think of this as undifferentiated energy which becomes yours or your energy which returns to you.  Either way, it is not my energy.  It is clean energy for you to use.

If that all sounds a little vague to you, it sounded a little vague to me, too.  Many years ago I opened a coning and 'asked the Universe' "What exactly is going on here?"

The image that came to me was very similar to the white noise on a t.v. screen - all sparkly and fuzzy and moving, all colors and no colors at once.  As I 'listened to a voice' say "The frequencies hold the shape." A shape coalesced out of the white noise.  Then I heard "As the frequencies change, the shape changes" and I watched the shape morphing into different shapes.   "When you want to change what is real, you change the frequency and the form changes shape."  And again shapes morphed in and out of being.  Then I heard, "Reiki is the fabric of the Universe."  and I realized it was the 'white noise' I was watching.  It is the stuff of stars.  That is what the Rei-ki is.  And then we hold it in shape by our being.

   

 

What can Reiki do?

While I never know exactly what changes will occur (I can't foretell the future!) or what information I will get, I do know that whatever healing does occur it is in alignment with the soul purpose of the recipient. 

Reiki is beneficial in many situations.  In its simplest application, it is relaxing and brings oxygen into the cells.  Many times there is heat generated in the hands and this can be soothing as well.

Applying Reiki to specific situations, it is wonderful to help clear emotional states which aren't so helpful.  For instance, if someone is driving you batty, Reiki helps you attain a more neutral response to this person.

Reiki has also, in my experience, helped to realign bodies without force.  I channel in the energy and the body remembers how to operate and restores itself to better functioning.

Reiki can also be wonderful for doing a life review, balancing out the chakras or meridians, addressing interpersonal situations, and more.

  

In a Session for You

 

There are different approaches to doing Reiki. When Reiki was practiced by Dr. Usui in Japan, people would move into a Reiki house and receive Reiki from a team of Reiki practitioners on a daily basis for an entire month. Currently, many people use Reiki on an as-needed schedule, while others use Reiki pro-actively and go for sessions regularly.

If you are using Reiki to address a specific situation, it can be very effective to schedule two or three sessions very close together at the beginning.

In-Person sessions are available in the Austin area, or, if you're located elsewhere in the world, long-distance sessions are available where-ever you're at.

As the recipient of Reiki, you are entirely in control of how deep the session goes. Your timing is strictly honored. As Reiki is the Universal Energy, there is no frequency not accessible through Reiki, yet because Reiki is Universal Energy, it will also only come in at the strength and frequency which your are capable of bringing in.

On a more practical level, in a session, you'll tell me what you want to achieve and you'll most likely be lying down (fully clothed!) on a massage table.  If you are wanting to address a physical project, I will most likely move around you and either hold my hands just above you in different places - like around your head, or near your shoulders, or above your heart or hips or knees or where-ever.  If you are wanting to address a mental-emotional project, I will probably sit near your head or your feet and I may or may not have contact with you there.  If it is your desire not to be touched, then I will sit nearby and do distance Reiki while you are hanging out on the table. 

What you'll get from the session is usually relief and sometimes information.  When folks have had physical projects that required putting things back in order, they have often indicated intensity.  For some, this is uncomfortable.  I have also had one person tell me my hands were way too hot.  If this happens, you just let me know and I tune it down a notch. 

In a session, I may see things, hear things, or feel things which are related to the session.  Sometimes I see physical things - like bones & tissues & organs, and what is going on with them.  Sometimes I see colors around the body; sometimes I get information about what those colors mean and sometimes I don't!  Sometimes I see vignettes of situations from the past - either this life time or parallel lifetimes.  Sometimes I see people that are important.  When I hear things, it can be in the form of voices or simply noises.  When folks appear, they often are quite chatty!  And I will relay those messages.  Physically, there's almost no limit to what comes in on that channel.  I have also, on occasion, smelled odors during sessions that had to do with the information coming through.  In those instances, others experienced the smell as well but we couldn't find anything in the room that would have accounted for it.

I will not, however, get information that is not pertinent to the session.  I have on more than one occasion done a session totally on faith, getting no information at all from my senses or the client, thinking, 'O dear, I hope they don't think I'm a nut!'  only to find out later, the client was 'blown away' by what they experienced and got.  So there is total confidentiality! 

In some of the quieter sessions, folks will get sleepy and drift off or they will enjoy the heat that is generated from the transfer of Reiki and that's it.

Reiki for Your Horse or Companion Animals

Reiki can be made available for cats, dogs, horses, birds, fish, or any companion animal. 

While animals are closer to the Universal Energy, they do often carry our complaints for us, and they also contend with the occasional mishaps of animal life.

For the riding mount, Reiki can release tensions, such as those from habitual inefficient movement and resistances. It can also release the mental and emotional resistances that can prevent forward movement in the ring and in the training in general.

For companion animals, Reiki can assist with all manner of conditions.

Since Reiki is working at the energetic level, it can be beneficial in many different situations.
